Director of CO2 Product Engineering and Installation

Fusion Coolant Systems seeks a highly skilled Mechanical & Electrical Engineer specializing in CO2 gas delivery products and systems for application in manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain CO2 delivery systems, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles, coupled with hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems, specifically including the following:

  • CO2 storage, pumping, heating, valving, and monitoring with an emphasis on uptime and safety. Specialty gas equipment & automation.
  • Custom gas process control solutions that move compressed & supercritical gas from one point to another.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design & Development
    • Design and develop critical mechanical and electrical components for CO2 delivery systems, including valves, pumps, and control units.
    • Create detailed engineering plans, schematics, and technical specifications in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Select cost-effective and appropriate materials and components to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Installation & Commissioning
    • Oversee & control the installation and commissioning of CO2 delivery systems in manufacturing facilities.
    • Ensure systems are installed correctly, meet all design and safety standards, and are well-documented.
    • Perform initial system tests and calibrations to validate performance.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure system longevity.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in existing CO2 delivery systems.
    • Perform and document initial system tests and calibrations to validate performance.
  • Project Management
    • Manage engineering projects from concept to completion, meeting timelines, scopes, and budgets.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and safety departments, and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
    • Developing partnerships with organizations to support customer uptime
    • Prepare project reports, documentation, and technical manuals.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all CO2 delivery systems comply with relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards through regular audits.
    • Conduct and document risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate potential hazards.
    • Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to CO2 delivery systems, and conduct regular training sessions for stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for system improvements and cost savings.
    • Implement innovative solutions, such as advanced control algorithms, to enhance system efficiency and performance.
    • Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements in CO2 delivery systems and apply them where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in designing and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proven experience with CO2 delivery systems is highly desirable.
    • Strong background in industrial automation and control systems.
  • Skills
    • Experience in P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) development and modeling of gas delivery system behavior.
    • Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and monitoring strategies to maximize gas system uptime.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication, partnership, and teamwork abilities.
  • Certifications
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
    • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or similar is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Work in both office and domestic & international manufacturing plant environments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary to support customer needs.
