Machine Tool Service Technician

We are looking for a Machine Tool Service Technician to help us create and implement innovative, scalable solutions to serve both external and internal customers. As a Machine Tool Service Technician you will be an integral member of our engineering team and be a master of mechanical integration of our product to machine tools, solving challenges and driving success. You will work with our external customers to perform installations, develop processes, conduct preventative maintenance, train customer personnel, and perform field repairs. For internal customers, the Machine Tool Service Technician produces CNC-machined parts, creates new solutions to emergent challenges, and assists in product development and fabrication, always maintaining quality and safety standards. Requires overnight travel. 

Specific duties and responsibilities include: 

Responsibilities & Duties: 

  • Provide expert level field service troubleshooting and repairs as well as preventative maintenance
  • Installation and testing at customers’ and potential customers’ facilities
  • Work with and train customer personnel on machine installs and repairs
  • Train and communicate with customers in a professional manner
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair and/or rebuild of various machines, both in-house and product related
  • Produce machined parts by programming, setting up and operating CNC machines
  • Is a knowledge resource for other team members; serve as a consultant to other parts of the organization and share best practices

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in CNC field service and knowledge of machine controls
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair 
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience with machine controls and components
  • Experience with reading and following PLC ladders
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally, occasionally on short notice
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer interaction skills
  • Ability to stay calm during stressful situations
  • Professional appearance
  • Dependable transportation and valid driver license required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a passport
